When I downloaded Thunderbird it took such a short time I didn't think it was any goo
It took such a short time to download the files I didn't think the download had worked. But it did. At least it's working. That was a 10.9 MB file, and it downloaded in less than a second. It usually takes about 30 seconds to download a file that size.
I have Suse 10.1 and I was using Firefox. I've sent and received emails. It works. My question is: whats going on here? Did I only get sent a shortcut or a stub? I hope somebody can set me straight, because it really bugs me. Not knowing if I have the whole program. Thanks, royeo |
Firefox will silently download in the background while waiting for you to click. So if you clicked the download link but didn't click in the resulting dialog box right away (the one that asks if you want to open or save the file) then it probably downloaded the whole thing before you decided what to do with it.

Seemingly extremely short time to downkoad a file
Thank you, that clears things right up. What I still don't understand is if Firefox downloads before you say go, how does it know where you're going to save it to?
Thanks again, Roy O'Neill PS I've never IM'ed before. Is there a learning curve? |
Watch your /tmp when you download something in Firefox, while it's waiting for you to click OK it downloads to /tmp and copies it to the correct location when it's done.
