when i copy pics to my extr. hard i found it just as shortcuts on XP windows
 
hi my friends
i work on pc with linux redhat v 4. OS ,my problem is :
i have a folder containing about 100 picture each one have the size 22.5 kb ,i copied this folder to my extenal hard and when i open this folder in onther pc work with XP windows OS i found all my pictures which i copied from my linux pc is copied just as shortcut pictures with 1 kb.
pleas anyone can help me to solve this problem?

linux trainer,

Try use a 'cut & past' after you do a 'select all ' from the 'Edit' command in place of the 'drag & drop' method to move the files to the external drive. I have encountered a similar problem but forget which Linux distribution caused the problem.

but i like to told when i try to use the cat and past commands a massage apeared here said
'you dont have permision to write to /mnt/sdb1' wher is the /mnt/sdb1 is my external hard and when i tried to chang the permision mode by using '# chmod 777 /mnt' the permision dont changed.

thanx for your help but its the same command line which i used to copy my folder and the result was the folder is copied with only shortcuts.
