When I click file/properties on a script, no option for Java to open.

When I right click on a script file in Gnome Classic (no effects) using Edubuntu 12.10 it won't give me the option to open with Java anywhere in the selections. Any suggestions?

Found this....

Code:

xdg-mime default java application/java-archive
I'm not sure what this does but will this allow me to select open with Java in the properties menu?, and How exactly do I use this. just execute it in Terminal?

MIME Database

Desktop Environments have tools for managing it, sometimes associations can also be changed from within a File Manager but what in essence links file types with applications is the MIME type "database".
Seems like Unspawner is onto something here, but how do I tell the MIME database to associate .sh and .jar files to open with Java?
