When Epson printer prints endless jibber how do you stop it?

HI,
I was trying to copy(print) a document on my scanner through Gimp and my printer, an "Epson Stylus Photo 700", just starts printing out an endless amount of jibberish and I can't stop it. I tried the "Print Jobs Manager" with no results. It just keeps on going, and going and going. How do I stop it in a console?
Thanks,
Tmitch70377

Typically, this means that you don't have the right driver selected. I always stop it by simply turning off the printer and cancelling everything in the print queue.

Note that--in GIMP--you have to setup the printer in the print dialog--even if it is already configured for other programs.
"setup printer" tab--just below the printer select dialog near the top of the print menu

when epsons start printing gibberish, just pull the plug form teh printer!, they somtimes do this even when the driver is working :-o
and nothing you do in software will stop, even unplugginge teh printer (usb or parrel) cable will not stop it!

Hi, I want to thank you guys for your help, and taking it easy on the "old & stupid", it's taken a lot of time and effort to get that way.:D
Thank you very much,

Alternatively, you leave it alone and it'll stop printing after a while. Takes a really long while, though, even 1kb .txt files take up reams of paper

:D
