when booting from PSlinuxOs 2009.1 cd - segmentation fault when probing scsi devices

I am testing PCLinux 2009.1 prior to installing. My desktop currently runs on ME and has been out of use for some time. It still works however and I can still get online. I'm currently using a laptop running XP. I would like to make use of my old desktop and tried to test PCLinux 2009.1 today. I followed the instructions obtained online and booted from the Linux cd. The pc booted up ok and displayed the first screen allowing me to select the "Live CD" option. After enter my system hung up at "Probing SCSI Devices:Segmentation fault".

Can anyone help?

Not so competent, Gusmyster.

Probably a corrupt cd ?
( PCLinuxOS 2009 is one of the live cds, I use to test older computers.
Never fails.)

Secondly : 2009.1 is too old to install. ?
The 2009.x repositories exist no more. AFAIK.

Suggest : Use PCLinuxOS 2010.12 Gnome (pclinuxos-gnome-2010.12.iso)

If your still adamant on using 2009.1 then at the boot splash screen press F6 for kernel options (f6 is kind of light blue so it's hard to see). In Safeboot, or Copy2ram mode.
type noscsi at the end of all the boot options.

For the old Synaptic repositories you can add a new one

http://kde3.pclosusers.com/pclosfiles/
pclinuxos/2007
main extra nonfree kde

(and unmark the others)

MHO
I really thing all Linux distros should have a long term for their classic versions. One of the main reasons for a new version is for Flash 10.
Yet, I can still get it using 2009.1 and Opera 11.

addendum:1/15/11
BTW, Opera 10.10 stll works better. Go figure.
