When an application in suse CRASHES then how do I close it??

Everyone harps on about how reliable Linux is well i've had a few crashes (at the moment I'm trying to install a few different mirrors on my software source in Yast and it looks like YAST didn't like my selection.

Now I can't cloase the application and LINUX won't shut down is there feature like in XP where you can force an application to close

First of all, Linux is the kernel and has nothing to do with crashes of badly written applications.

To kill a process, from the commandline:

$ top

You will see a list of processes, type 'k' to kill one.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Esc, this will change the cursor to a skull and cross bones, when you have this cursor clicking on the offending program will kill it. Note that this only works in KDE. Alternatively you can use System --> Monitor --> Performance Monitor (KSysGuard), this is like the windows task manager

My question is is there a way of forcing an application that misbehaves to close while using SUSE?(Like in XP where you can press ctl alt del and close the applications one by one)
