I have a logitech ps2 cordless wheelmouse. How do I get RH Linux (V7.0) to recognize the scrolling function?

Make the change to your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, mainly the ZAxisMapping line, like this:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection

This allows my intellimouse scroll wheel to run.

I looked at the site you suggested. I am not sure how to use it. It appears to be a bit more advanced than I am able to handle right now. I will re-read and study this site again and again to see if I can figure out what to do with the download. There don't appear to be any instructions on what to do, once you have downloaded the file.

Since the package is kompressed you will have to unpack it first. Copy the .tar.gz file to a temporary directory, then run the following command:
tar -zxvf imwheel-x.x.x.tar.gz
This creates a directory with the files. Cd to the new directory imwheel-x.x.x and read the README & INSTALL files, they contain instructions how to compile and install the program. (less README)
