Can anyone post a screenshot of, or explain the dumbo here what's the difference between Red Hat Linux and Mandrake Linux? Duh.[B][FONT=courier new]

Red Hat Linux is made by the Red Hat Corporation. Mandrake started life as a distro based on RH. They are both rpm based and have similarities but are still different.

The difference in "look" between Mandrake and Redhat is neither here nor there - The look is determined by the window manger you use, kde or gnome for example and the themes that they use. The main difference in my mind is that RedHat has usually been defined as a server operating system and Mandrake branched of in order to create a more comprehensive desktop environment. in saying that - I still prefer to use RedHat for both.

Due to this ( Posts: 2 ) I am guessing you are trying to choose one to try on your computer. The best way (for new or old Linux users) to see any differences in distributions is to try them both. A very large percentage of applications are basically the same on every distribution. Each distribution may have a different default window manager, and usually have a different set of administration tools. Some may include more or less applications in their various offerings.
Both Mandrake and Red Hat have their pluses and minuses. Personally I would prefer Mandrake, but that is due largely to my particular hardware. Barring hardware problems just make a choice and use if for a while and see what you think.
Depending on your pocketbook or internet connection you can; download either for free (the box versions are a little more complete on default install); buy the download versions cheaply at Cheapbytes, Linux Central, etc; buy the cheaper box set offered (not a bad choice, it includes some printed documentation (usually available online if you are going the cheap way) usually a more satisfying install (Acrobat Reader and such included); or go whole hog with a complete set.
