Debian has a SPARC port.

Hey,

Installed FC6 was a breeze for me. SUSE 10.0 comes in second, although it had one minor problem. It was probably the disc, though. Try either one of those.

Alternately, I'd go into a Barnes and Noble, and pick up a Linux book that comes with umpteen million different Linux Live CDs. Boot up and fool around with all of them and see which one you like. That's the only real way you'll find out.

Regards,

Brandon

Is it compatible with SIPp and Ethereal?

I would like to explore this more if you could point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your time!

No, Solaris 10 and up is free for any usage. Solaris Express is based on OpenSolaris which is open sourced.

SIPp: yes (according to http://sipp.sourceforge.net/doc/refe...able+platforms ), you may have issues when compiling as reported here: http://unix.derkeiler.com/Newsgroups...4-12/0475.html
Ethereal: yes (have a look at WireShark too.)

There may be however an installation issue for your U10: RAM requirement for the installation is 256MB or maybe more.

Your response was very helpful. Even if it does not work for SIPp I have another U10 that I am going to load Solaris 10 on. I am currently running Solaris 8 and it needs to be upgraded. once again I appreciate your help.

Thanks

Solaris 10 is also available open source for Intel/x86 systems.

Yes, the same open source code builds to both SPARC and x86/AMD64 platforms.
