i can't get it to work on my system. It gives me errors. i noticed most of them said "lib" in the error. I did a FULL install. Is there something that i have to install to get these services to install properly?

Nothing against everybuddy, but I hated that program. Hard to configure, buggy.. well at least I thought it was. GAIM is much more stable and more support for it.

i have been trying all day to install gaim. when running ./configure it told me that i needed glib. so i got the current version of glib. when attempting to install it, it informed me that i needed pkgconfig, so i got that and installed it. then installed glib-2.0.6. tried to install gaim again and got the same error. i noticed it was looking for glib-1.2.5, so i got 1.2.5 and installed it. now it tells me that it found 1.2.5 but also found 1.2.10. it wants me to either uninstall every version except 1.2.5 or edit files that are beyond my knowledge. (looking at the top of the page) since this is a newbie area, i'm hoping that maybe a shove in the proper direction will resolve these issues. if you need, i will run gaim configure and report the specific filenames that it wanted me to edit. all help is greatly appreciated. :study:

also, i have attempted installing ymessenger from soucre and i failed. i was able to get it to work in mdk 8.2 but there is no slack-specific tarball. so once again, i was lost. :newbie:

please help

This is how I got the ymessenger to work with Slack:

rpm2targz ymessenger-version-number.rpm

tar xvf ymessenger-version-number.tar.gz

This will create a ymessenger directory with the executable in the sbin or bin directory in whatever directory you extract it from I believe. From there, just type ymessenger from a terminal and it will launch the program.. Its been awhile since I last did this but if you have any questions or that doesn't work, just let us know.

I would get the latest one for Redhat 7.2 is the one I think I used.
