the latest version....

always go for the latest version, it will be more secure - reliable and bug free.

it seems at the time of this post, the latest version is 2.3-47.

however, if i were you, i would download from this site....
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tripwire/

the link you gave only gives binary releases that seem very old (redhat 6)

Yeah that had me wondering... so if I download this source all I have to do is:

./configure

make

make install

Is that correctl? Thanks for your help!

thats the normal procedure....
usually there is a file called README or INSTALL

if there is anything special you need to do to install, it will have instructions in there.
