Hi All,

I have recently acquired a working Pentium 100 box. I think that all of the hardware is ompatible with linux. However i'm just wondering what flavor of linux should be installed. The Box only has 16mb of ram - which means it could be considerable slow. Since this box isn't really that fast would it be better to install an older version of linux? and what flavor should be used?

Thanks in advance

I think you can use any version, only I fear you won't be able to run Gnome or KDE.

my two cents

I just got into linux and I've tried a ton of diffrent versions, but honestly I havn't made up my mind. I guess it's what features you want etc...

Mandrake 7.2

It may not be most suited to your system configuration, but it is the easiest to install and learn (in my knowledgable opinion!;)). Take a look at the http://www.linux.org for a whole list of distros which were designed to run on low spec machines. You may want to think of buying some more RAM if you want it do some graphical things.
