What to do after upgrading to Red Hat 7.1
I´ve upgraded the red hat version 6.0 (installed for only seven days) to 7.1. The question is why after upgrading see I still the same kernel version (when tiping ´uname -a´)? What should I do to upgrade the kernel? Why some of the services fail when booting?

what kernel do you have?
signup at redhat for your free account. then use up2date for updating everything on your system just make sure you checkout the lilo.conf file and run lilo after upgrading the kernel |
I´ve the kernel 2.2.5-15.
I think I should have the 2.4.xxx. What´s the account thing about? And the up2date? Sorry...:newbie: |
RedHat has a network for managing your boxes.
you signup free at redhat.com you can register your systems then you will check the status of them on the redhat network or elect to receive email notification of updates and bug fixes, vunerabilities, etc... you can update your system by running up2date -u or use the up2date gui. if you have more than one system you can entitle them one at a time for free. the entitled system can be updated automatically if you want if it's connected to the internet. you just need to install up2date and setup an account |
Thanks. I`ve now the 2.4.2-2 running. It was just a lilo little problem. I will now take care about that up2date thing. Thanks.
