What run level do I start named?

Hi,

I'm a newbie learning to set up a DNS server on RH9.

I used RH GUI to install Linux on the server and I set it up as a DNS server. When I get a list of services running, I don't see named. Of course, I can start it manually.

1. Is this normal? I thought RH would start it for me. Does this mean I did something wrong?

2. If I want named to start automatically, what run level do I put it under?

I would think so (dunno about rh, but on a workstation, it should
be off by default).

Whatever level your box runs under. The 'runlevel'-tool tells you. Or you can
look at /etc/inittab to find out. Try

man 5 inittab
