Question What port should I add to firewall to allow ping from client?

Hi,
My server is using Centos as its operating system, and my client is using Windows Xp. I set a FQDN to my server IP address, then I set my client dns server to my server IP address. If my server firewall is disabled, I can ping FQDN from my client command prompt, but when my server firewall was enabled, I can't. I want my server firewall to be enabled, but I can ping from my client, too. What port should I add to my server firewall? or what should I do? Please help me.

by port this generally means tcp or udp port, of which ping is neither, it's icmp. so you'd need to permit icmp.

tbh, icmp does use "port numbers" to an extent, but in the form of icmp message types, and "ping" is icmp type 8, but in general people don't control to that level, just permitting icmp traffic across the board.
