What kind of questions?

I am new to any kind of 'posting' info on the web. What kind of questions do I ask? Is this forum generally for IT information or can you ask any kind of question you want?

this is a forum for asking questions about Linux, which is a computer operating system, and applications / hardware associated with it. if you were going to talk about wood work or mortgages, this isn't' the site for you.

welcome to LQ.

Note that each forum has a short blurb about what it is for. You posted in Linux-Newbie, which says:

What I would do is browse around a bit and see the kinds of questions posted. For non-technical, there is the non-*nix "general". I'd like to say anything goes there, but that's not quite true.
