if you are worried bout running puppy as root(which you should be) there is a multiuser pup on the website... imho a safer choice

Yep! Our company has run on Mac since '82 or so. Still have the original custom system enabler disk [system 6. something]and one of the original box's [an SE]. And lots of "been Replaced" since!

Perhaps in a server setting root may be less then safe or at least worth protecting.
