What is /srv dir most used for?

Hello --

It seems that the /srv directory is not really used.
What is the most common use for it?

Jon

I think you'll find lots of distros don't have a /srv, but it's mst common use seems to be for web pages, basically what most systms use /var/www for. I'm sure there's more to it than that.

Have a look at http://tldp.org/LDP/Linux-Filesystem.../html/srv.html

Thank you for the reply.

I am now using Debian but I did not see it on FC, so I was currious.
Looks like I am using it for the correct purpose Apache and SVN type usage.
( i was hoping it was not special area i should not use )

Thanks.
