What is my console setup? Installing Debian distro

Hello everyone.

I am installing a debian distro onto my hard disk using the debootstrap program.
There was a window asking for the configuration of my keyboard. I didn't understand any of the options and selected 'English - US' although I'm in the UK.

Now a new window has appeared with 'Configuring console setup'.
There's so many setups like ARMSCII-8, CP1251, ISO8859 and UTF-8.
Which is the correct choice?

Thank you in advance.

US keyboards have some of the keys mapped to different characters, the @ symbol (if I'm not mistaken) is above the number 2? On a UK keyboard you have it over beside the # and <return> keys. a US keyboard doesn't have a "£" symbol either so try installing with a UK keyboard or it'll just become irritating. You shouldn't have to select a setup like ASCII or whatever usually.

I don't know about the debootstrap program so can't comment on its use.

Play Bonny!

You need the en_GB.UTF-8 type for merry old England.

Yes, I eventually selected UTF-8 after looking it up on Wikipedia.
