Post what is linux equivalent of solaris' /dev/sysmsg?

Hi all. I would like to modify the /etc/syslog.conf on a RHEL5.3 system in order to tweak some logging for an application. On my solaris10 system, we have an entry such as this:

kern.notice;auth.notice /dev/sysmsg

I notice that there is no such beast (/dev/sysmsg) on RHEL5.3. It is my assumption that /dev/console would be the best bet here. So, with that in mind the entry would look as follows:

kern.notice;auth.notice /dev/console

Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance gang!

Meatloaf.

Can you describe what /dev/sysmsg is/does?
