Unhappy what is ar and were do i get it


When I try to install an archive "file.deb"
the archive gui opens and says " ar " is not in the path can some one please tell me were I can find this file and were i should put it thanks.

have you tried locating it... might already be on your system. locate and find.... commands can be used. sounds to me it might not be in your users path if needed. not sure though. have you tried using root or are you root when doing this ??
