Today I found myself executing
Code:
cd .
for a reason.

I had mounted a device and the mountpoint was the current directory. The current session did not see the newly added contents of the directory. Issuing cd . solved the problem..

I am not sure whether the guy who wrote cd had this usecase in mind, but this illustrates once more that software should not decide for the user what makes sense...
