What is a good website editor on Linux? Frontpage/Dreamweaver?

I really don't want to use text editors to edit html sites so i'm used to Frontpage and Dreamweaver. I could use Frontpage on windows and dreamweaver on mac but i don't see anything like this on linux.. :(

Try running Dreamweaver via Wine or run it within a VMware virtual system.

This link http://luiscosio.com/how-to-dreamwea...-10-easy-steps gives some info for running Dreamweaver on Ubuntu, should be very similar for Kubuntu as well.

Think of all the websites that are not quite right (or totally wrong) in anything but IE. Even major companies like Amazon have the occasional problem. Then have pity on your potential viewers and learn to write XHTML and CSS properly. I'm not suggesting you use vim! Try Bluefish, which is full of keyboard shortcuts and wizards.

ditto the recommendation of Bluefish.

In my reading on sites devoted to web development, FrontPage is widely quoted as among the very worst ways to make web pages. I hope we never have this on Linux.

Have you ever seen the code behind FrontPage? Now, I'm talking about FrontPage 2000, so maybe they've improved a bit, but the source is so unintelligible. And just saving a blank document saves like 20 lines of extra code that ... well ... ridiculous.

In my opinion, and really not trying to make the OP upset, but you're not really a developer if you can't write your own code from scratch. Try weening yourself from the WYSIWYG apps and move forward with your trade.

You could look at the Linuxquestions.org Members choice awards... IDE/Web Development Editor of the Year

I always loved comparing that code to something from a simple editor like the one in the Mozilla suite.. talk about two entirely different worlds when it comes to html code.. I never did figure out what all that cruft was that front page (or MS WORD html) put in.
