what is a .bz2 file, and how does one open ?

Hello!
I just downloaded the file ut2004-lnx-demo-3120.run.bz2 and I was wondering how to open it. I clicked on it in konqueror and Ark started automatically. After five minutes of Ark "thinking", I gave up and decided to ask here.

thanks in advance,
doug

Oh yeah, and the other part of your question: it's a type of file compression which often results in smaller files than gzip. Example: gimp is 14mb when gzipped but only 12mb when b2zipped
