what happens with calling thread?

Dear All,

referring to POSIX threads standard my question is: what happens with calling thread when is executed pthread_join(), calling thread is transited to the BLOCKED state?

Moreover, if anybody help my to find detailed description of Thread State Transition for POSIX? i.e. we have following states : ready, blocked, running and terminated my problem is that I don't know precisely when and what condition trigerred transition between states.

Thank you,
