what does the BOOT kernel do

Hi

Just upgraded my kernel on my redhat machine and grub comes up with the upgraded kernel to select from as well as the upgraded kernel with BOOT at the end.

What is the difference between the two?

The BOOT means that it is marked as the one to auto boot if you don't change the selection. You can edit grub or run boot-admin to change your default setting.
