What does star mean beside a file

Hi guys, today for the first time, I saw star beside some files here it is

gingercook@DSTmultilayer:~$ l -l
total 32
-rwxrwxr-x 1 gingercook gingercook 68 Nov 5 05:52*
drwxrwxr-x 6 gingercook gingercook 4096 Nov 3 18:48 dst_server/
drwx------ 3 gingercook gingercook 4096 Nov 5 03:15 management/

What do these stars represent? thank you

The asterisk means that the file is executable.

Try looking at the 'General output formatting' when you run:
info ls

welll actually this happened to me when I mistyped ls -l as

l -l
