What distro to use?

Hey folks,

I've used SuSE 9.1 and 9.2 in the past a little for exploring around. It worked quite nice. Currently I'm sick of windoze and trying to find myself a distro to switch my office and net work to (mostly just writing bills and such) so i can leave windows only for gaming.

What other distros should i try before deciding what to go with? I've heard good things about Gentoo but the installation seems a bit far off for my knowledge lol.

Any good reviews on the net that i can read about some distros or maybe some all-round test of the most popular/best distros?

Appriciate any help.

Regards,

Danny.

Ubuntu is pretty cool. Reasonably easy to install. Has more or less the latest software there is available.
Ubuntu has a very good, friendly and helpful community. 2nd to none.
Ultimately, it comes down to personal taste. The advantage you have these days is the plethora of live cd's available.
Most distros have a live cd so you can try them out without having to install first.
http://distrowatch.com is a good place to go.

I would suggest you look at the newest versions of Suse, Mandriva, Ubuntu and Fedora Core. Test a few distros then make a decision on whats best for you. Distrowatch has a lot of good info that can help you make up your mind.

I like FreeBSD, 4.9 is great .. easy as hell to install, and using unix instead of linux just sounds so much old school badass :P
