What distro to chose? (See computer specs)

As the topicname says; What kind of distro would be a good fit for my computer? I would like good hardware support/detection. The distro doesn't have to be out of the box, I got a little linux experience...

A wishlist:
  • Getting my budget tv card to work
  • Fast & stable
  • Run vnc server on it

The computer specs:

AMD Sempron 900Mhz
768MB DDR memory
GeForce FX 5200 128MB video
1x 80GiB HD
1x 160 GiB HD
Budget TV-card

I hope that I've informed you enough about my wishes, and specs...

your specs are nothing specifically interesting, all you'll get is a popularity contest, which you can get any time you want at http://distrowatch.org . just try one and if you like it, stick with it. only concession you'll need to make is the desktop environment, which is not distribution specific. KDE3 (or 4) or Gnome 2 may well be too much, but any distro running that will struggle on a 900mhz compared to a 3ghz one, regardless of which one it is.

What type of TV Card? The Hauppage cards are generally the easiest to get working. I've gotten a couple of them working with Ubuntu and Fedora.

well hauppage cards use all three of the most common tv chipsets, so whlist it's a good make, the driver each model, or sub version of individual models, varies a lot. that said, as a normal user, you'd never need to know what driver was being used...
