You may want to specify your distro to get more help with this. Not all distros have an admin user. In any case, you can become the admin user by typing su - admin. You can become root by running su - root or just su - You may need to use sudo depending on the permissions of the su binary.

root is the main system user that has access to everything. In some distros you might run into an admin user that will have access to lots of resources, but not everything.

Are the accessible resources in admin the same as with root, just less?
