What are the limitations on using "k" programs outside of kde?

I know that you don't have to be using KDE to run some 'K' programs, but are there other restrictions on running them under say Gnome? I have both KDE and Gnome installed on my box, and I see a number of 'k' programs on the hat menu, but I don't see all of the ones I have installed, is there a general rule that explains what can and cannot run under other GUI's? Thanks.

As long as you have the libraries they should all run anywhere.
