You're welcome to this forum, but this is not intended to suggest any job openings or IT market trends. You should better register your job profile on some job portals like naukri or monster. There you can get better ideas. Good luck!

Thank u Shiva, I mean the current scope of this course in India, ???

You can start learning linux from the beginning & then can opt for a career as a Linux administrator. As much as I know, most organizations use RedHat Liunx OS in their Unix based systems. On the other hand, Sun Solaris is also widely used at server level. But things are not actually limited. Many other Unix flavors like AIX, HP-UX, Ubuntu etc. are also widely used. So for the time being, you should go with RHEL and after learning/practising it for at least 6 months under proper guidence, you can go for it's certification.
Scope in Unix is endless (specially in a country like India), but depends upon your knowledge and skills in particular OS domain. You will need to work hard and keep yourself always up-to-date. Good luck!

There are plenty of opportunity in Linux in India.Make Linux as your primary Operating system With additional with Linux learn any Unix Operating system ,solaris operating system to get the job more quicker .Currently most MNC in India looking candidate to be specialised in all the flavour of operating system .Learn Linux from good Linux training institute ,But Dont spend money for obtaining Redhat Certification it now RS 16,000 Plus for obtaining Redhat Certification it waste of money. No one will look after your certification ,you can spend the money to learn some other new technology

Thanks Arun, What about CCNA + RHCE combination and the chance for getting the job??

adol83 11-09-2012 03:09 AM

You're talking to get certificate and learn rhel and ccna as they should be like some university exam that you can take in one month.
It will be a little longer, maybe one year or more, so, if you're in hurry for a job keep in mind that.

Following a personal suggestion :

Intelligence is your speed to link and understand things
Will is your strenght to attain your aim
Laziness is corrupts both of them.
Keep in mind that.

Additionally, to increase your employability I'd suggest getting rid of bad spelling habits, eg: frndz, plz, etc.

Neither is it acceptable on a job application nor it is recommended when communicating with other people here on LQ.

Some people my see it as a sign of either being lazy or trying to be "cool". I wouldn't want either of those in my employees (if I were an employer):)

Good luck with your job search!

Basic Knowledge of Networking is must.If you start supporting Linux L3 & L4 you have to be strong on Routing & Switching protocol.Since you are in starting of your carrer.I personally feel these combination will get you a job more quicker in any Mnc in India

Linux + Apache + Tomcat + Mysql
