What 'flavour' of unix am I using?

Hi there, which "flavour" and version of linux I am running? Below I see GNU/Linux which I understand to be a linux kernel and the free GNU operating system. But someone definitely said I had "debian" installed(?)

okay I think I've got it.
So the flavour I am using is GNU/LINUX where the linux kernal is version 2.4.36 and the GNU OS sitting on top of that is version 3.3.3 -
Is my line of thought correct?

really?? as in IPCOP is comparable to debian?? ie they're each a linux distribution(?), so I can say "no I didn't install debian, I installed IPCOP"

yes i did, but when I read "The IPCop Firewall is a Linux firewall distribution" ...the word "firewall" got me confused.

If it had said "IPCop is a LINUX distribution" I would have accepted it easily. But I've never heard of a FIREWALL being a distribution, but only as a feature which sits within a distribution.

I can't explain that statement as I have heard of such a distro before, may be you start a new thread for understanding its meaning.

I was just wonderin michellepace if IPCOP is what you were seeking in a Linux distro?
meaning I was just wonderin how/why you have it?
you just got a computer that already had IPCOP or what?
