Weird Sound Problem

Greetings, new user here... obviously...

Anyway I was just directed to at least give Ubuntu a serious try and that it may be the answer to my OS woes.

I love it so far but I'm having the weirdest problem...

In all the tests, my sound is working fine. I can play the test tones, loud and clear. I can play MP3s, no problem once I got the codecs. Now, all that being the case, I get no audi at all from online sources... places like Youtube, Megavideo, Ninjavideo... videos play, but no audio....

Any suggestions as to what I need to do to get this working?

Thanks in advance!

Flash Player

Try re-installing Flash player or updating it. Before you do that, check and see in preferences > Applications to see if you have audio settings chosen right in there. Example: Totem Web Browser Plugin; mp3.

And under 'Applications' I have nothing having to do with preferences....

How would I go about reinstalling flash?

Ok, after some digging I found quite a few ppl are having the same problem, and from what I see there are tons of fixes. I tried several of them, and well.... none of them worked or did anything at all....

I've installed Ubuntu on 5 different comps all with various hardware and I get the same exact thing on every one... So I'm guessing I'm doing the same thing wrong on every install or the plugins or whatever that govern sound on the net are incomplete when Ubuntu is installed....

I've no idea what to do at this point....

Any suggestions?
