Weird crash problem
Hi,
I have a CentOS 4.5 running kernel 2.6.9-55.0.9 and I have a weird problem with it. From time to time, it just crash. If I look at the server, all I see is a black screen and the num lock and scroll lock lights are flashing on the keyboard. The server cannot be pinged or accessed remotely. Any idea what is wrong? Thanks! |
What are the last messages in /var/log/syslog file predecessing a crash?
|
I don't see a syslog file in /var/log.
After a search for syslog, I found the following: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/Sys/Syslog /usr/libexec/webmin/caldera/syslog /usr/libexec/webmin/mscstyle3/syslog /usr/libexec/webmin/syslog /usr/share/doc/ruby-libs-1.8.1/ext/syslog /var/lock/subsys/syslog /etc/logrotate.d/syslog /etc/sysconfig/syslog /etc/rc.d/init.d/syslog /etc/webmin/syslog Which one should I look in? |
What files are in /var/log ? /var/log/messages perhaps ?
