Thumbs down Websites videos running slow

Hello,

Why is it when I click on videos uploaded to websites it runs slow? for example a Website that I visit a lot is www.mundotoro.com since I love bullfighting I watch videos there but it runs really slow. If I watch the video using W$ndows it runs ok. I use Ubuntu 9.04 on a Dual Core 2.20 2GB RAM.
Thanks

Assuming all other factors being equal: my observation:
There are some websites that use non-open applications for embedded stream servers, to this, the most observable delay is caused by off-timed file buffering function. This will downgrade actual service speed. But if i try install and use a proprietary add-on, say wmplayer flash, into the browser the performance is improved.

Your RAM is more than enough for the needed normal speed, it's not the problem.

Linux kernel also cannot be the problem; my experience with a site using x-mplayer2 is very good.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

In what sense is the video playing SLOW - Lag between video and audio or does teh video hang when it is playing ?

One more question, does this happen to all videos played on your computer or all videos played on the browser (Firefox, I suppose) or only on this website ?

If its for all videos played on your computer - check your Video card driver. I faced this problem and I added in NVidia driver for Ubuntu and all went fine. Google for "Install and Enable NVIDIA driver on Ubuntu 9.04" and go on from there. (THIS IS ONLY IF YOU HAVE NVIDIA AND ALL VIDEOS PLAY WITH A HANG/PAUSE).

If its for all videos on the browser ... It should be some plugins that needs to be upgraded or downgraded ...

If its only on that website, then its the problem with the website owner and nothing can be done

Thank you guys for your answers! it happens with this website and others.. for example if I go to www.weather.com and try to watch a video there and video would start playing then hang for a bit then run really slow, hang then continue... it's annoying. however, if I watch videos on youtube or some other websites it runs fine. At first I thought it was the website I was watching the videos on but I tried using w$ndows to watch the same video at the same time and it run fine. I don't have a Nvidia graphic card. I use firefox.
thanks for your help.
