Website publishing in Apache

I have a multiboot computer with Windows 2003 Server Standard and Red Hat Linux 9.0. I don't know how to publish websites in Linux though I have successfully configured Apache Web Server. I would like to know; like in IIS 6.0 the root directory is wwwroot and with Frontpage extensions installed websites can be published, what is the root directory for Linux web server and how to publish.

In redhat, the root directory is usually something like /var/www or one of its subdirs (don't remember and no redhat9 in my possession to test).
Meanwhile, you can change that root dir in your configuration file /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file. Look at the documentRoot directive. If you change the document root, you will have to modify as well all <Directory /your/dir> entries related to your docRoot.
To take changes into account, restart apache.
