webhosting question needs noob friendly reply
ok heres the deal i have my webserver set up so /srv/www/htdocs/ is the main folder then i have the folders inside that for example tr tf etc so i can goto 172.16.1.37/tr and it will display the website in tr you with me so far ? good glad someone is
ok i host a counterstrike server for my lan day and we have one guy that connects thru the net however the server trickles these files to him but valve to the recue introduce sv_downloadurl bless there little hearts this means if i made a cs folder in /srv/www/htdocs/ and set my external address plus the /cs/ bit then he would download at my full upload speed (since the rest of us are on lan thats not an issue) however this would require i copy my maps matterials models etc etc to the cs folder and take double the hd space so heres the question drum roll 1) can i make a fake cs folder in htdocs that is actually a link to my cstrike folder? (/home/mrgreaper/srcds_1/cstrike/) sounds simple in idea but no idea in practice sorry should mention its suse 10 linux and apache web host |
Do you just mean a symlink ?
Code:
cd /srv/www/htdocs/ Then you are making a symbolic link to your cstrike folder to be located within /srv/www/htdocs. If you type : Code:
file /srv/www/htdocs/cstrike /srv/www/htdocs/cstrike: symbolic link to `/home/mrgreaper/srcds_1/cstrike/' From what I understand this is what your asking for. |
