Webcam And Voice Chat In Ubuntu 8.04


Hello Frenz ,

I am a newbie and i am using Ubuntu 8.04 for quite some time and i am loving it . But i was depressed to know that there is no webcam support in linux and voice chat is not supported . then i came to know about Gyach enhanced .How to install and use gyach . I am desperately waiting for replies .


Plzzzz help

I don't know what that is, could you try Ekiga? I dont know if it works/how good it is.

Skype is available in Ubuntu 8.04 and works great (I use it).

Also, while most webcam manufacturers do not provide native drivers for Linux, it doesn't mean that Linux does not support webcams. Linux in fact has support for a wide range of webcams. Logitech Quickcams are a good bet, I have one and it worked "out of the box" the moment I plugged it into my Ubuntu box.

OK! for those of you who use skype with ubuntu Hardy, I am having all the problems in this world to make my microphone work. I have tried google for a week now. Followed all recipes and even installed ubuntu 2 times to no avail. please help.
