what is the best suitable hardware and software mix for building small company web server/ftp server ?

which distro is better use for newbie for this propose.?

intel celeron 2.4g ? enough or what ? 512mb ddr ram....

please someone give me advice that a faster way of building website server.

apache ? or others http server ?

by the way, i whould like to build a firewall/router from a old 486 computer
and only floppy is accessable. what disto for this propose best.?is it possible to do from thatjunk pc......?

it´s like everything, depending on your intended use and the expected traffic!
the distro is a question of philosophy. i´d prefer RHEL or FC2 with apache,but for linux newbies or windows newbies (who want to try linux), i think SuSE is the better choice.
