I am interested too, I would like to run MSN messenger on a Linux platform.
At the moment I use Pidgin (I guess the Linux or Ubuntu version of IM), though it does not have all of the functionalities of MSN.

Pidgin and msn

If you want to use a camera with the Amsn client supports some cameras http://http://www.amsn-project.net/ here is a link. If you are using Ubuntu sudo apt-get install amsn should install it. As for help with your camera it is probably best to Google it.

Would have been a different command if I wanted to install amns on a different Linux distribution?

Yes, on Debian it would be that command aswell but other distros use other package management tools.

Thanks,
just for info...what s the package management tools used for RedHat, Mandrake, Fedora, etc....

teek 04-25-2008 11:29 AM

They use RPM packages, here is some more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPM_Package_Manager
Tools like yum (fedora) and Smart Package Manager (mandriva) are used to manage the packages and check for dependencies.

btw, ferdora is the community release of Red Hat
