Web browsing very slow (on 1.5M ADSL...)

Lately I installed Mandrake 10.1 Community. I have an ADSL 1.5M connection. I managed to connect, brows the internet and download files. My problem is:

In all the browsers I have tried (the ones which came with the installation and Firefox), browsing is very very slow - data is downloading in single Bytes per second, for all sites (with and without flash). When I download files or ftp - I do get the max speed of 1.5M. Also tried to brows with/without proxy - no difference.

It seams like the "line" is OK since I do get the max download speed when I download files, but something is configured wrong in the system/browser and I get very slow speed when sites are downloaded. What can be configured wrong?

Thanks a lot, soofsoof.

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem. Does anybody know how to fix it?

My Specs:

P3 1,4Ghz
512Mb DDR
RealTek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet adapter
Netopia 3346 ADSL router/switch
Debian linux "Sarge" 2.6 kernel

I searched the net as extensively as my connection speed permitted to find an answer to this question, but I couldn't find any satisfying way to solve the problem.
Please note that I'm still quite a newbie =)

Thanks a load

Hello guys,

Try to turn of IPv6 traffic.

Edit /etc/modprobe.conf and add the following lines.......

#Turn off IPv6
alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off
