watching quicktime on linx? missing qtmlclient.dll codec?

Hey all, im trying to watch some quicktime videos, but they require quicktime.. so i get the win32 pack and it still won't show... i then see what it's encoded in and it's qtmlclient.dll or something

Where can i get this?

What are you watching them with? And what 'win32' pack did you get, and what did you do with it?

I'd use mplayer and I'm guessing you are to with the 'win32' pack. If so, can you post the output of:
mplayer -vo xv filename.mov

Where filename.mov is the actual file.

Cool

hmm, well itried installing mplayer, but it got too complicated with the dependacies :S

Im using xine.. i got the xine package from http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/

Yeah, those dependencies can be a real pain. However, I'd grab the mplayer source and compile it and try from there.

Cool

hmm, it seems to play the audio fine, but the video is very sketchy, how do i download the stream file? i know kaffeine allows me but kaffeine won't let me watch it

btw, how do I make it so the movies from mplayer play in firefox instead of me ahving to search for the code al lthe time and pasting it? :)

Use mplayerplug-in to play them within a browser (check http://freshmeat.net )

You can download it with wget, OR rather I'd set my cache a bit higher in /etc/mplayer.conf Whichever you prefer.

Cool
