want to remove linux distro & replace it with a different distro
I can partition my C: drive on XP with Acronis Disk Director.
If I install Red Hat workstation on a new partition and then decide
after a period of time that I want to install Red Hat server or a
completely different Linux distro, can I install it over the existing Linux OS or do I have to delete & remove the Red Hat workstation installation.
You can do what you want to do, but it will take more or less time to do it, depending on how the new distro is different from the previous one (RH workstation). It can cause headaches.

Huh???
Remove old partition(s)---installer does this
Make new partition(s)---installer does this too
Install new distro

Exactly what headaches are you reffering to?
I meant if you want to keep your configuration and your installed programs.
If all you want to do is install a new linux distro and screw the old one completely, then there is no headache at all, it is straightforward. I believe I misunderstood the original request, sorry about that.
