Oops, sorry about that typo. It should have been

mount -t devpts devpts /mnt/dev/pts
As I said, I do not use encrypted home directory. So I can not test/correct the procedure.
Again, I strongly recommend to try the link(s) provided by fbobraga.

i followed those links byfbobraga ,they are really useful.

i have decrypted the USERNAME folder , and i can see all my files there, but now the problem is, i am not able to copy the files to my Pd.
i can open them by double clicking them, but could not copy them. any where.
when i copy it returns an error.as in screenshot.http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/9681/screenshot5j.png

thanks to u all. i could mount the HOME dir .with the frist link provided by fbobraga(blogspot link). i rescued almost all the data.
