Want Android - need Grub on an empty HDD
Hi!
I want to install Android on my old FSC P1120. In order to do so I need the Grub boot loader. Since the rig has no bootable options rather than HDD (no USB boot is supported either) I need to plug the HDD from the P1120 into my PC as an external drive to configure or copy files. Now I would like to install Grub on that external drive, which is completely empty, without affection to the rest of my system. Then I would copy the Android files onto the HDD and let the install process run through. Is there any way to do so without installing a Linux OS and changing my current Win7 system? I hope you know what I mean :) Thx in advance! |
That is possible to do. You can install grub on any drive connected to a system. You should probably see the grub manual. There were a lot of changes from version 1 to 2.

By the way, here is the grub 2 manual.

Consider Vitual Machines on your W7. VMware's VMplayer 3 or Sun's Virtualbox or MS's VirtualPC or even qemu work well.
The best part is you almost can't bork your install. |
