VSFTP on debian. How to configure it?

Okay, so ive got my debian web server set up all nice and comfey, serving php to the world very fast indeed. However, its not doing a WHOLE lot of good since I have no way of uploading anything to it yet!

When i was running redhat i was using vsftp quite happily (after compiling it a few times :/) but now when i use debians (very nice) apt-get feature, I'm a little confused as to how I can set up the server to:
a) run on startup
b) have the root directory where i specify
c) let me connect to it from certain IP addresses
d) dis-allow anonymous access
e, f, g, etc etc.

Also, I'd like to make sure the server runs at startup, and/or when inetd starts. I'm not sure whether there is some sort of a configuration program for this, or whether i need to edit a file somewhere, but I dont know what it is, or where it would have been put

Be gentle, im a bit of a , and all this file editing and stuff is a bit confusing!

I was able to find this thread for setting up the vsftpd.conf file.. hopefully this will help.. it helped me out alot! Not running debian but this worked for redhat and slackware for me.

The entire thread is very useful on setting this stuff up.. I hope this gets your started.

Also as another place to get info is the man page for vsftpd.conf

Ive got a slight problem. I dont have a /etc/vsfptd folder... i thought this would be created when i installed it? (i installed with apt-get) if i were to download the source for this, would it just be a matter of copying over the folder?

Thanks for the help
