What? What exactly do you mean you 'broke' your volume?

What were you doing when you 'broke' it?

Did it ever work? I mean, did you ever have sound being emitted from the speakers whilst running Linux?

For people to help you, you really need to provide more information.

But you could try
Code:

alsaconf
to configure your soundcard.
or
Code:

alsamixer
to adjust mixer settings and make sure it's not muted.
or
Code:

turn on your speakers, making sure they are plugged in and have a power source

Are you referring to RAID or LVM or your sound?

FowlProgrammer 02-17-2007 09:23 PM

no I cant alter the volume it stays at one loudness and never goes up or down from my speakers even if I put the volume bar to the bottom or top.

Are you sure it's not a problem with the speakers? Sounds very strange.

Have you tried connecting your speakers to other audio outputs from the pc? It may be that they are connected to an output that delivers audio at a set volume. Some audio equipment has this type of output so that the volume is always set the same, which is useful when it goes to an amplifier with its own volume control.

Thks it was the set audio output
