Volume group "VolGroup00" not found.
I cloned the HDD from my current system for a new MB that I just got then received message below:
"Volume group "VolGroup00" not found. Unable to access resume device (/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01)" The new copy work fine when I plug it into my original system. I have cloned HDD for many other systems at work before but never have this issue. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong. Thanks! |
If it's that early, you'd have to think the (old) initrd doesn't have support for one of the on-board shipset. Get rid of the splash and watch the messages from the boot - maybe even add "noresume" to the boot parms and see how far you get.
Have a read of "man dracut" for possible resolutions if using a RH/Fedora distro. |
Thanks for the quick response! Please tell me how to add "noresume" to the boot parms. I am using CentOS 5.1. Right now, after unabling to access resume device, it give messages
mount: could not find file system '/dev/root' setuproot: moving /dev failed: No such file or directory setuproot: error mounting /proc: No such file or directory setuproot: error mounting /sys: No such file or directory switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! then halted. And yes, I have a verified backup. |
