Volume group "VolGroup00" not found.
 

I cloned the HDD from my current system for a new MB that I just got then received message below:
"Volume group "VolGroup00" not found.
Unable to access resume device (/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01)"
The new copy work fine when I plug it into my original system. I have cloned HDD for many other systems at work before but never have this issue. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong.

If it's that early, you'd have to think the (old) initrd doesn't have support for one of the on-board shipset. Get rid of the splash and watch the messages from the boot - maybe even add "noresume" to the boot parms and see how far you get.

Have a read of "man dracut" for possible resolutions if using a RH/Fedora distro.

Thanks for the quick response! Please tell me how to add "noresume" to the boot parms. I am using CentOS 5.1. Right now, after unabling to access resume device, it give messages

mount: could not find file system '/dev/root'
setuproot: moving /dev failed: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /proc: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /sys: No such file or directory
switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

then halted. And yes, I have a verified backup.
