VNCviewer issue

I noticed when i log into the vncviewer to view my RHEL desktop gui, i cannot login when the actual desktop is not logged in.

For some reason, the desktop itself needs a user to be logged before you can initialise a vncview session...

I want to be able to login even tho the desktop is on the login prompt.

Any ideas on how I can get around this in vnc?

Thanks!
DB

Sounds to me like the VNC Server isn't running until the session is logged in.

-If you SSH into the machine, is the process running?
-How does the process start?
-What error do you get when you try to log in?

Sorry I tried the tutorial but for some reason I couldnt find gdm.conf nor the /etc/gdm/Init/Default path.

I'm using Red Hat Ent 4.

Thanks!
